The remnants of German soldiers transported to the cemetary
The remains of 12 German soldiers, who died in March 1945 during artillery fire of this city, were exhumed near Kamień Pomorski. Now the remnants are going to be inhumed at local war cemetary..
The remnants of German soldiers, inhumed on Chrząszczewska Island near Kamień Pomorski, were discovered during routine cleaning. “We have exhumed remnants of 12 German soldiers. A few of them still had buttons, elements of means of identification, so called “dog tags", but we have also found one wallet” – said dr Andrzej Ossowski from the institute of forensic medicine at Pomeranian Academy of Medicine in Stettin.
The remnants of soldiers are being transported to Glinna next to Stare Czarnowo (in West Pomerania Province) and inhumed at local German war cemetary. Their place of rest will be well marked, so that later, when the identity of the casualties is known, the information could be placed on appropriate board. The cost of cemetary, exhumation and inhumation was covered by the German party.
