Poles are more and more often buying scooters. Soon our biggest cities may resemble Rome or Paris. This year 91 thousand of scooters have been bought, only by 2.5 thousand fewer than new cars.
The increase in sale is connected with a drop in prices. A few years ago one had to pay 5 to 7 thousand PLN to buy a scooter. Today, for one single-track vehicle one can pay as little as 3 thousand PLN. And even cheaper scooters are available in malls and small housing-estate shops for less than 2 thousand PLN.
Interest in scooters is something more than just a fad. Because how to explain four-time growth in sale of these vehicles in only two years, considering only fashion? In 2005 Poles bought not more than 23 thousand new scooters, last year it was more than 91 thousand.
Experts notice that Poles are not experiencing a new fashion but its renaissance. “Not many people knew that in 70ties in Poland 3-4 milions of single-track vehicles were registered” – said Jakub Faryś from Motor Industry Association (Związku Przemysłu Motorowego).
