Ex- Managing Director of Halemba coal mine arrested
Kazimierz D. Ex-Managing Director of the main Halemba in Ruda Śląska is suspect to cause a catastrophe in which explosion of methane and coal dust killed 23 miners, it was 21st of November 2006.
After interrogation of ex-director, investigators decided to keep him arrested. He is beard by imputation that he has caused a catastrophe in which 23 miners was killed.
According to investigators Kaziemierz D. has had presented results of methane measurements, from which he knew, that on a level of 1030 meters where lasted disassembly of main machines the level of methane was over allowed standards. About dangerous he was also informed by setters. Despite of that director has neglected warnings, has not stopped works and left people in dangerous area. Last report about level methane he received in a day of catastrophe. A few hours later under the ground was an explosion. 23 miners was killed.
Kazimierz D. has not plead guilty, despite of that he can not explain, why he left people in such a dangerous area. Investigators suspect that economical factors decided. Drawing back of the staff was related to necessity of sending under the ground a large number of rescue team and drift ventilation.
