It is not out of the question that John Paul II’s heart might get to Wawel – claims the bishop Tadeusz Pieronek. “For sure, some first degree relicts, that is, the parts of the body, are going to find its way to Cracow”.

It was Jacek Majchrowski, the president of Cracow, who wanted to transfer John Paul II’s heart to Cracow. The idea was dropped because these kind of relicts can be gained only after the beatification.

According to bishop Pieronek, the beatification can take place even on 16th of October. That is the day of 30th anniversary of John Paul II’s ingression to Papal honors. At this moment, according to Italian media, preparations to transport the body of John Paul II from Vatican Caves to St. Peter Basilica are in progress. Two variants are being considered: exhibition of the Pope’s body to public view in glass coffin or errection of a monument.
