Poles drove trough all continent
Expedition was called “Expedition of the Century” because before them nobody had driven this distance by car. Campaigners of the expedition drove by car from Cape Rocca in Portugal to Cape Dieżniewa at The Strait of Bering ,40 thousands kilometers, the same as circuit of Earth. In expedition took part two Poles – Romuald Koperski and Marian Pilorz- and Russian Wiktor Makarowskij.
They drove in one car, today the expedition reached Gdańsk. As said Romuald Koperski- “the worst was cold, terrible winter, frost reaching 63 degree, desert and of course Czukotka, which totally different land about we Poles have no idea. Even Russian do not know Czukotka, because nobody ever has been there.” The main purpose of the expedition was to memorialize the one hundred anniversary of the great event in motorization history which was the race from New York to Paris organized in 1908. Expedition drove a specially prepared, German, military, offroad track Man from 1980.
