Polish carpet won a prize
Moho Design company’s round carpet, resembling a folk cutout, has been designed by Magdalena Lubińska and Michał Kopaniszyn. Artists used wool from New Zealand with long, springy fibres to create this product.
The carpet was weaved the traditional way, on looms, with a coil from thick woolen yarn, which is then exposed to process of strong fullering. Companies from 51 countries, presenting 3202 products, took part in the competition this year.
All these products are judged by an international jury which estimates the innovation, functionality, ergonomics and quality. The prizes are awarded in 16 categories. The carpet in quwtion got this prize in the living room and bedroom category.
Thus Moho Design was the first Polish company to get the Red Dot award, called the Oscar of industrial design world – the Red Dot Museum in Essen. Earlier the award had been handed in to such companies as Apple, Siemens, Bosh and Porsche.
