New air connections to Poland
A new spring-summer flight schedule has been in effect since Sunday. Air carriers will open 40 new links by October. The major attraction will be the link from Warsaw to Beijing.
We may expect air link to Hong-Kong and other places e.g. to Vietnam, after receiving Boeing 787 Dreamliner airplanes. New air links for Poles are planned by other airlines such as Lufthansa, SAS or British Airways. Yet, many more air links are being opened by cheap airlines, among which dominate the major airlines in Poland: WizzAir and Ryanair. Most of the air routes are directed to the British Isles.
However, there appear new ones more and more e.g. Iceland Express will take off from Warsaw to Reykjavik since May. WizzAir, on the other hand, will take us from Gdańsk to Turkey. Norwegian Airlines will open to Trondheim in Norway and to Split in Croatia, and Italian Volare, From Warsaw to Milan since the beginning of April.
‘We deal with a less dynamic development on air routes to Great Britain or Ireland’ says Tomasz Szymczak, the chief of Warsaw Airport Services. And since there is no other alternative for airlines than British Isles- because economic migration in other directions is not developing so quickly- there appear first cuts in air schedules.
Ultimately, SkyEurope leaves Poland and EasyJet closes airlink from Gdańsk. Dozen of air routes are being suspended by Centralwings. Those actions give an argument to sceptics to claim that the good climate for air travels in Poland is coming to an end.
