Polish scientists unravel the cause of a cancer

Several adequate external circumstances are needed for a cancer to appear. But even more important are congenital genetic predispositions. These genetic predispositions are the starting point in the development of all kinds of cancer.

This sensational conclusion stem from the research of the team of prof. Jan Lubiński from Pomerania Medical Academy in Stettin (Pomorska Akademia Medyczna w Szczecinie).

This discovery can be a forecast of real revolution in the fight against cancer. As scientists claims we will know precisely who and in what degree is in threat of developing the disease. It is not the first success of prof. Lubiński. He became famous for i.e.  identifying the gene connected with the risk of large intestine cancer, and opening the first in our country genetic out-patient oncological clinic in 1992.
