New York Metropolitan Opera Broadcasts in Łódź

Three direct broadcasts and two rebroadcasts of New York Metropolitan Opera performances are going to take place between 5th Aprill and 17th May in Łódź. The performances are: “The Bohemians” („Cyganeria”), “The Daughter of the Regiment”(„Córka pułku”) and “Tristan and Isolde” („Tristan i Izolda”).

5^th April at 7.30 p.m. in Concert Hall of Łódź Philharmonic, broadcast of the popular “The Bohemians” by Giacomo Puccini is beginning. It is incredible and extraordinary production of world famous director Franco Zeffirelli. The role of Mimi –  is going to be sung byAgnega Gheorghiu, and her lover, poet Rodolfo – by tenor Rodolfo Ramón Vargas.

Next on 26^th of April at 7.30, also at the concert hall in Łódź, transmission of Gaetano Domizetti composition “The Daughter of the Regiment” is going to take place. On 17^th of April one can follow the fate of “Tristan and Isolde” by Ryszard Wagner.

This is third time when Polish audience can watch “The Bohemians” performance by Giacomo Puccini in this manner. On 12^th of January 2008 we have seen “Macbeth” by Giuseppe Verdi, on 16^th of February „Manon Lescaut” by Giacomo Puccini, and 15^th of March „Peter Grimes” by Benjamin Britten.

New York originators of this international transmission cared deeply to show the best quality sound and vision to all music lovers so they can enjoy high qality music. For that reason they were very demanding and ask for very high requirements. That is why they decided to have Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and high resolution television – High Definition.
