Rekord-breaking PKO BP profit

PKO BP’s (General Treasury Savings of Polish Bank - Powszechna Kasa Oszczedności Bank Polski) profit after first quarter of this year can amount even one billion PLN. It can be a record-breaking quarter not only for the bank itself but also for the whole banking sector.

Billion zloty profit in one quarter would be a record not only for PKO BP but also for the whole sector. Best quarter result – 870 billion zloty – PKO BP gained in last three months of last year. The result for the first quarter of this year bank is going to announce in May.

There is a chance, that this bank will beat the leader Pekao S.A., which is on the second position in this quarter.

Rafał Juszczak, chairman of PKO BP, claims that new projects, which were put into practice, would cause, that the result of the company in 2008 will be better than last year, that is, it will exceed 3 billion zloty.

Finance Minister Aleksander Grad says, that this year PKO BP can emit shares, and the national shares in bank will drop to less than 50%, from 51,4% at present. Yet The Treasury want to keep the control over PKO BP.
