On the construction industry market there is not enough people to work. The estimation is that construction industry market lack even 60 thousand people. In last two, three years, 150 – 180 thousand experts in construction industry has left Poland.

The biggest problem is the lack of high rank experts, engineers, construction managers, who more and more often decide to leave our country and to take up work abroad.

There is about 60 thousand engineers, who are entitled to manage the construction in Poland, yet there is more than 400 thousand constructions works in progress. It create six, even seven buildings per each engineer.

In this situation, one can observe a high reduction in the quality of constructions, which are in progress and safety. In last few years, there is significant increase in the number of accidents and fatalities in the construction industry. In year 2006 – 340 construction catastrophes, in which 109 people died, and accidents, in which7883 person were injured, happened.

Wiktor Piwkowski, chairman of the Polish House of Construction Engineers (Polskia Izba Inżynierów Budownictwa) is of the opinion that there is a need not only to raise the earnings but also the need for radical changes in system of education connected with construction industry and for widening the availability to entitlements to manage the constructions. This can take even 10 or 15 years.
