Only 8 percent of Poles have acces to broadband Internet. In EU it is worse only in Bulgaria. Such data was announced on Wednesday by European Commission, presenting report about telecommunication market.

As a matter of fact, according to the Commission, this index is growing rapidly – one year ago it was only 5 percent. However, it is still dramatically low, particularly in comparison with European Union average, which amounts to 20 percent. In Denmark, Finland, Holland and Sweden 34-36 per cent of citizens have acces to broadband Internet. These are the world records.

Commission’s experts take note that there is only one dominant operator in Polish market, which is TP SA (Polish Telecomunication). It has 57 percent of shares in fast internet market and 71 percent in stationary telephone lines market. However, those numbers are falling down.
