Polish sailing ship detained in Israel

Sailing ship „Pogoria” has been detained in Hajfa port. Polish ship has a collision with fishing boat, two Israeli were slightly wounded. Whereas, Polish crew, 42 person strong, including 32 lyceum students, were detained until clarification by public prosecutor’s office.

Right after leaving the port we collided with not illuminated fishing boat. “Pogoria” is a very big sailing ship so the fishing boat were practically swept up – one of the participants of the cruise Paweł Zybert reported. „Pogoria” and the crew did not suffered any injuries.

Polish embassy consul in Tel-Awiwie Janusz Połowniak assured, during the interview to Radio RMF FM, that the lyceum students are safe. The captain of „Pogoria” is in permanent contact with management of lyceum and through this management he is passing on all needed information to the parents.

The ship were detained according to Israeli procedure, the reason for this is a necessity of presenting by the insurer of the shipowner securing voucher, which refund the expenses of possible compensation.
