Jerzy Jarocki jubilee

In Wroclaw Contemporary Theatre (17th of March), celebrations of 50-years of debut of Jerzy Jarocki, one of the most famous Polish theatres directors, are starting. That was him who showed on Polish stage Mrożek and Gombrowicz. His staging of Gombrowicz's  "The Wedding" (Śluby) and television performance of Witkacy's "Mother" (Matka) are considered by experts to be canonic.
Extraordinary and outstanding Jarocki's staging, for example Różewicz's world premiere "The Old Lady Sits Waiting" (Stara kobieta wysiaduje), Helmut Kajzar's  "Paternoster" and Majakowski 's "The Bedbug" (Pluskwa) as well as realized in this city Grotowski and Henryk Tomaszewski performances entailed that in the seventies and eighties Wrocław had been acclaimed the capital of Polish avant-garde theatre. During the jubilee two Jarocki's performances are going to be presented: unique "The Controller" (Rewizor) of Gogola from Schauspielhaus in Wuppertal (1982) and world premiere TV show of the version of "The Erring" (Błądzenie) according to Witold Gombrowicz, the spectacle  from National Theatre in Warsaw, which had been transferred to Television Theatre in 2007. Meeting with the director and promotion of book "The Director. 50 years of creative activity of Jerzy Jarocki " (Reżyser. 50 lat twórczości Jerzego Jarockiego) is also planned.
Jarocki about himself: "I feel a lone wolf, but not in theatre, because here I find solid support and cooperation in creating a variety of wonderful and outstanding fictions and united joy from this fun. And although the majority of reviews from my performances are just a show off of complete lack of understanding, I still do not feel  completely incomprehensible. In particular in the context of how many people still want to watch my shows."
