Six months old baby died due to the lack of referral to the hospital

Last Tuesday in Health Center in Sierakowice six months old baby died. Public prosecutor's office in Kartuzy holds legal proceedings in this case. It is known that parents with a child were trying to get to the hospital in Kartuzy, but the baby could not have been admitted without the referral, so they went to the doctor in Sierakowice. Unfortunatelly it was to late for the baby.
Nurse, who did not let the child stay in the hospital, after week of passing over the matter in silence, claimed that she did not feel guilty of the child's death, she also added that she is not responsible for this because she was only executing orders. "Ward head of the hospital gave an verbal regulation, which stated that the hospital cannot admit patients without referral during the time of health centre working hours, if they do not need this. This regulation apply particularly to children under two years because they have to be examined by the pediatrician" - woman justified herself.
Ward head of the rescue department of the hospital in Kartuzy (Pomorskie) Piotr Kołodziej deny that he gave such an order. "There was a practice that at the rescue department we need to select patients by ourselves" - he stated.
