US spy satellite to be shot down
An American spy satellite that had been damaged during its service in orbit is going to be shot down by Americans. They will use their air-defence system. There has been some discussion whether the remnants - or the vessel itself - may cause any damage in Poland (or other territories).
There is no knowing where the satellite will hit Earth - as the possible impact area ranges between 52 degrees North and 52 degrees South.
It is not an unusual situatuon that used-up satellites fall down to the surface of the Earth or into the ocean, burning almost completely going through atmosphere. But this case is different due to the half full tank of full that, on the impact and due to the burndown, may cause pollution over an area of 200,000 square meters, which would be catastrophical if in an urban or agricultural area.
Polish Crisis Staff as well as Crisis Reaction Services were told to raise their alert levels. Experts and officials are saying that the hazard to Poland is minute.
There have also been voices saying if the action is not just a test-field for American space range war-head rockets.
