Celebrations of Pope John Paul II's third death anniversary

In many countries in Poland, prayers, concerts and conferences, concerning the heritage of John Paul II, on the occasion of third anniversary of his death, are planned. Main celebrations are going to take place in Warsaw and Cracow; a lot of interesting events are also expected in Poznan and Lublin.

Sejm accepted the Treaty of Lisbon

The Sejm (the lower house of the Polish parliament) accepted the announcement of results with standing ovation. In favour of ratification were 384 deputies from PO, PSL, LiD and majority from PiS. Against were 56 deputies of that party and 12 abstained from voting.

On bicycles to Vienna

From 10th to 20th of May 2008 an international bicycle rally "The Vienna Offensive on the Bicycle" is going to take place. The cycle route stretches from Cracow and Moravia to Vienna. Its length is estimated at 600 km. Cracow - Moravia - Vienna Greenways is a green track of natural and cultural heritage which combines not only antique cities and towns but also unique and picturesque scenery.

Much safer on Great Mazurian Lakes

In forthcoming season, Great Mazurian Lakes are going to be much safer for yachtsmen. It is the effect of the actions take after last year's white squall which caused 12 deaths.

Professor Tadeusz Luty, vice chancellor of Wroclaw University of Technology, has been selected to The European University Association (Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Uniwersytetów).
