The Real Poland
I’ve been living all my life five minutes away from the sea and the idea of spending nine months abroad should, at first, include a coast. But as I said, it was “at first” cause sometimes you have to change your mind so as to live an unforgettable experience far from home. Even Poland was not the country I wanted to go for Erasmus, but, who knows why, everything was turning just to the contrary of what I have always thought, and thanks to I do not know who, my destiny was Wroclaw.

If I had to advise somebody to go to Wroclaw in Poland as an ERASMUS student, I would say to that person...GOOO!!! It's an unforgettable experience that everyone must attempt if the opportunity arises. The life in Wroclaw is totally different from the life in France where I live and study.

Long queues; shop and railway assistants that make me regret I was born; sun set view from the 15th floor of a Plattenbau; slow trains; slow bar tenders; lack of efficiency; people who help me learn their language; long talks in which people who associate my country and me with the crusaders from Grunwald 1410; the ability to improvise; ketchup on everything; being reminded by Polish friends that the beautiful architecture in my surrounding was built by Germans, my co-nationals; ability to party until morning in the middle of an exam session; to write cribs on the hand;

10 questions after 10 months
1. What did you feel when you arrived in Wroclaw for the very first time? I sat in the train and saw the Wrocławskie Arkady, a huge shopping-mall, passing by. As naive it may sound – it was a big surprise for me that Wroclaw as a polish city has 4 huge shopping malls and in addition to that a big shopping park, where you can buy almost everything. I wasn’t aware of the crucial power of consumption that obtains in Poland. People seem to love shopping or at least walking through the malls to be seen and watch others.
