In Wroclaw Contemporary Theatre (17th of March), celebrations of 50-years of debut of Jerzy Jarocki, one of the most famous Polish theatres directors, are starting. That was him who showed on Polish stage Mrożek and Gombrowicz. His staging of Gombrowicz's "The Wedding" (Śluby) and television performance of Witkacy's "Mother" (Matka) are considered by experts to be canonic.

Reverend Michał Heller, outstanding Polish Catholic philosopher, professor of Pontifical Academy of Theology in Cracow (Papieska Akademia Teologiczna), has won this year's Templeton Prize, which is awarded for the extraordinary achievements in the philosophy field and for the Progress Toward Research or Discoveries about Spiritual Realities.

Gustaw Holoubek, aged 85, died in Warsaw on March 6, 2008. He was unquestioned professional and moral authority. Holoubek was an incredible figure, exceptional theatre, film actor and stage director.

86th birthday of Władysław Bartoszewski
